Welding and Fabrication III

Due to inclement weather with forecasted extremely cold early morning temperatures, all schools in the St. Vrain Valley School District will be on a weather delay, and school will start 2 hours later than our normal schedule for Tuesday, January 21. When the district remains open, but you believe that weather conditions in your specific area are unsafe or otherwise problematic for transporting your student to school, please feel free to contact your school’s attendance clerk to obtain an excused absence for your student. If weather conditions cause you to keep your student at home, they will be able to make up any missed schoolwork without penalty.

In this course the student will build upon their prior learning in Level II and pipe welding in all positions (2G, 5G, and 6G) will be introduced. Students will learn basic pipefitting techniques as well as how to sleeve, peel, and plug pipe ranging from 2" outside diameter, up to 8" in diameter. Advanced blueprint reading, drawing and design, billing of materials, Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Performance Qualification Records (PQR's) will also be covered. Students will engage in advanced layout and fabrication processes to create projects for the community and engage in the SkillsUSA student organization, which incorporates leadership, service learning, and competitions to demonstrate skill level attainment. Students who not successfullly complete the first semester with a passing grade may not be allowed to continue in the second semester.
