Welding and Fabrication I
Welding and Fabrication I provides the foundational understanding of welding and welding processes. In this course, students will learn about industry safety standards, and allied metal cutting processes including oxyacetylene torch cutting and plasma torch cutting. Students will then become familiar with the following welding processes: GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding), FCAW (Flux Cored Arc Welding), SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding). Students will become familiar with basic blueprint reading, weld symbols, welding-related math, and measurement. As their skill level is developed, small projects will be introduced throughout the year. Students will have the opportunity to engage in the SkillsUSA student organization, which incorporates leadership, service learning, and competitions to demonstrate skill level attainment.
FRCC: WEL 1000 - Safety for Welders, WEL 1001 - Allied Cutting Processes, WEL 1003 - Basic Shielded Metal Arc I **These are Front Range Community College classes taught at CETC and require a separate enrollment and registration process for all students.**
